CupPhone connects people across languages. These rules explain what is not allowed, how blocking and reporting work, and how to appeal a suspension.
Blocking stops an account from contacting you. It takes effect immediately, and we do not notify the person you block. Blocking affects their ability to contact you, not their access to CupPhone generally.
Reporting brings an account to our attention and may lead to restrictions or suspension.
Reports are sent to abuse@cupphone.app for human attention. Automatic suspension can take effect before a person reviews the reports.
When an account receives reports from multiple distinct accounts within a 90-day period and reaches our reporting threshold, it is automatically suspended. Repeated reports from the same account count only once toward that threshold.
A suspended account cannot place calls or send messages. Suspension does not delete the account, its contacts or its messages.
Reports are allegations, not proof of misconduct. If you believe a suspension is wrong, you can appeal using the process below.
CupPhone does not store audio recordings of calls. Audio from translated calls is processed to provide translation.
Calls between people using the same language do not use translation and do not generate a transcript.
Translated calls generate text transcripts showing what was said and its translation. You can view these in your conversation history.
Clearing a conversation hides it from your view. Deleting your account removes your copy of the conversation. It does not remove the other participant’s copy, which they control through their own account.
We have technical access to stored transcripts. Our report-handling process uses reporting patterns rather than reading conversation transcripts to decide whether an account should be suspended.
If your account is suspended, you will be notified when you try to place a call or send a message.
To appeal, email abuse@cupphone.app from the email address associated with your CupPhone account. Explain why you believe the suspension is incorrect.
A person reviews the appeal. If the suspension was incorrect, we restore access and clear the reports that caused it so those same reports do not trigger another suspension.
Creating another account to avoid a suspension may result in the new account being suspended.
